I saw this when I turned off the LED. The background room light highlighted this worm sticking out of a rock. It is swaying to the water flow and reaching out but occasionally contracts.

Yeah, those look like digitate hydroids.

Correct, digitate hydroid. They can explode in numbers. Can also disappear without you doing anything. Mixed bag on reefers' experiences dealing with them.
