I'm looking to get a spotbreast angelfish (Genicanthus melanospilos) and since they are sequential hermaphrodites, I'm wondering if a female will become male if it is the only member of the species in the tank. I personally like the female coloration just as much as the male, but was curious if anyone had experience.

I can't speak to that species specifically, but other Genicanthus will. Sometimes though, the change isn't complete, or the colors look a bit "muddled". I don't know what controls the change though.....
