The world, especially the coral business world, is crazy right now!

Wholesale opportunities available!

For years I have imported directly from international suppliers that I have visited many times or from farms I helped set up. I very very rarely buy from wholesalers but get their lists all the time. These so-called wholesalers charge as much or more than retail. Most wholesalers also sell directly to hobbyists--usually surreptitiously, making pricing pressures greater for retailers.

I've been in the hobby since 1965 and started Pacific East Aquaculture in 2000. I still have true passion for the animals and am still wowed by the detail and beauty around me every day! I love what I do and am always humbled by God's amazing creations.

Prices are rising rapidly for freight, packing materials, etc. Freight space is very limited and triple the cost pre-pandemic. It can often take a month or more to set up an international import. Acquiring permits, arranging freight space at an affordable price and to a specific airport, and getting the best livestock prepared for shipping all take lots of time and planning.

Years ago I use to offer wholesale pricing to fellow vendors, but stopped since the pandemic and the difficulties of international travel. I am once again offering wholesale opportunities to vendors.

In order to get the best pricing it is advantageous to fill a freight container. The container holds about 45 boxes. Any vendors interested in going in on my upcoming shipments can email me, a minimum order of $5000 is required--roughly figure on about $1000 per box all in depending upon your stock choices. Payment is in advance via wire transfer. Pricing is same as buying direct with a small percentage added for my time to arrange. At these prices, there is no DOA policy, but I have imported hundreds of international shipments over the years and very rarely have more than 5% losses if that. Losses over 5%, with immediate photo documentation, are credited by the shipper.

Some flexibility is required since desired selection and permits don't always match exactly and no games are played with inspections. This is not as simple as you contacting me, me sending you a list, and you getting an order in a day or two. This takes some time to set up, but is worthwhile and allows you to buy direct at the best pricing without having to buy a gigantic shipment. This is similar to tranship, but it is with suppliers I have known for years and regular stock can be mixed with premium WYSIWYG items, plus inverts, anemones, fish, and clams can be added depending upon supplier and region.

Every supplier and region has their own specialties and I rotate suppliers each shipment. I am honest with them, them with me, and me with you. Miscellaneous costs, those costs beyond the cost of the livestock, such as freight, permits, packing, etc. are calculated per box, total shipment costs are divided by box, so going in with you helps me spread out these costs and is fair to everyone.

A bit more explanation:

Based upon stock list, WYSIWYG pics, and available CITES, you select what you want. Each region has a different mix and some suppliers do WYSIWYG pics and others don't.

These are some of the areas I regularly import from and what they offer:

Bali: cultured and wild corals, fish, inverts, anemones, and cultured clams including Squamosa, Maxima, Crocea. Excellent cultured Acropora and other cultured corals.

Jakarta: 3 different suppliers, offer a variety of cultured and wild corals, inverts, anemones, and fish. All types of corals, fish, anemones, and inverts.

Tahiti: cultured Maxima clams and fish, larger wild Maximas are also available

Tonga: wild collected corals and anemones
Highlights include a different mix of Acropora and Euphyllia than from Indonesia, nice pink Zoanthids, Scolymia, assorted Favia/Favites/Platygyra, red Goniopora, mushrooms, Lobophyllia, and Ritteri anemones.

Currently I putting together a shipment from Bali, another from Jakarta, and another from Tonga.
