I've even had fish get out with a lid! On an IM 10 with their lid I found a dracula goby dried up on the floor, must have gotten out in the gap between lid and glass.

My current tank has a lid that fits much tighter and a yellowline goby somehow jumped right through the 1/4" netting while I was standing there. Scooped it off the lid and put it back in the tank.

All wrasses jump. I highly recommend getting a screen lid on there ASAP.
Pulled the trigger . Ordered screen last night . I really don’t wanna go thru the worry of my wife coming home to see fish on the floor.Lol. Seriously though , I’ve got a ton of money in that system and a few more bucks to protect inhabitants is worth it ..

My firefish just jumped out for the first time while I was doing water change! Jumped out to backside of tank. I made the save real quick thank goodness but when I put him Back in tank he proceeded to go to corner of tank and jump but to his fail he got rejected twice by my hand being over water in tank .. haha. ! That net is going to get here soon enough!

I changed my mind on buying screen top. I bought a piece of acrylic to use as the top . I drilled holes for feeding and for tank to breath . I think this will help a lot of my 1 gallon a day evaporation rate and keep the humidity down in my fish room .

I have a sheet of thin acrylic over a 40-tall and it gets “steamed-over” and a lot of salt creep but the fish stay inside the tank.
It’s thin and it warps from the heat of an led fixture.
I’ keep a towel handy when I have to take it off to catch the rainfall from the condensation. It does help with evaporation.
Happy Thanksgiving:)

I bought a thinner piece last week and Found it too Flimsy and took it back and got the thicker sheet and double the price but it’s going to be worth it!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Any impact to pH having the acrylic cover? I had a lot of condensation with a screen lid that had a 2” solid acrylic border.

Not sure on that . I wouldn’t think so . I Have a glass top in my 90 and never had issues with Ph.
My acrylic piece does not seal righting on top of my tank . I can see that air is pulling through the edges of my rim
I will double check though this weekend . Time for my parameter tests .

I had a lawnmower and I havent found it but I also haven't seen it ...I guess I'll never know
That’s so frustrating to loose one of our fish and never find . I was lucky both times when fish jumped out . I was there when they jumped.
