Hi! I’ve recently jumped head first into making my reef tank dreams come true and I’m learning as I go. My bank account thinks I’ve lost my mind and my freshwater tank is threatening to go on strike. Last night, I noticed this white blob on one of the rocks. It wasn’t a slow growth, it simply just appeared. I debated on leaving it but ultimately decided to remove it tonight, during a water change. Any ideas on what it is?

If you need more details, this is a 75 gallon tank that has been cycling for almost 2 weeks. Im maintaining 1.024-1.025sg with a temp of 78.1. I have a mixture of live and dry rock, 2 black clownfish, 2 red leg crabs, 1 scarlet shrimp, and 1 peppermint shrimp. Before you come at me for adding my fish and invertebrates too soon, please know that I am following the guidance of my LFS owner and though I was highly skeptical, his guidance came recommended. The rock that the blob was on was live when I brought it home but due to an incredibly stupid rookie mistake, it’s no longer live. For that reason, I don’t think it crawled out of the rock. Though this is probably unrelated, my peppermint shrimp molted around the same time this blob appeared and his exoskeleton was hanging on the backside of this rock.
