This sprung up in my old temperate build several months ago out of nowhere (likely from a spore). It has grown slowly, yet steadily ever since. I would assume it hitchhiked on some North-Pacific seaweed.

Kelp holdfast look kind of like tree roots so its likely not kelp if it looks like sargassum to bad that would be really cool always thought a mini kelp forest would make a wicked biotope.
My old temperate build achieved that. My water parameters were probably not great, though, and most of the algae wilted.

The Giant kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) on the right of the second image only lasted about a week (looked fantastic while it lasted).
