So where is the strangest place for your Zoas to take up residency in your aquarium?

Just noticed some Zoas growing on my return nozzle. Maybe they wanted more light?

Got a pincushion urchin last weekend. He’s already going to town on the coralline!
Added a fire urchin to mine. This is probably foreshadowing for an interesting story down the road...

Spectacular!!!
Very kind of you to say! I had one with green "lighting" over a year ago so I'm hoping this one sticks around a bit longer. I've also seen them with red "LEDs", which would be wicked cool.

Low(er) nitrates, stable water parameters, lots of coralline to feed on and the occasional seaweed snack. I haven't had great success with green or multicolor urchins (just tuxedos and fire) - someone mentioned that green urchins are cold water, which is why they may have trouble adapting to the ~78 F temperature.

Keep us apprised of the growth rate of your fire urchin! The test of mine has doubled or tripled in size since I bought it last year. And forget the mysis: they seem to really, really enjoy chunks of raw supermarket shrimp. And if you have a feather duster, I'd move it now.

Will do. He's an active little guy - having completed almost an entire circuit of the tank. No dusters (someone found it a delicacy).

Wait until you feed it something meaty (with tongs!!!). They quiver with excitement and scuttle over to inspect any dead piece of meat. It's kind of disturbing, actually.
