You will want to put your ATO sensor in the return chamber. I would place it to the side of the return plumbing just below the baffle height that the water spills over into the return. That way you will keep water noise to a minimum.

Hi Sean, is there a 'performance' reason behind the placement or can the water be filled higher? ( for example same height as the baffle height of the chambers next to the return chamber so that there is no noise at all.

Below a -live situation- of the water level in my waterbox, if i understand it correctly it is a bit to high :) ( 3rd week of cycling so no fish or corals inside atm)

I don't see why you couldn't do that. Try it out and see how it goes. Being an AIO, you don't need to worry about it overflowing.

WouterDumon, a couple of things to consider.

1. Turn off your pump when filling water.
2. Start the pump after filling to the level you want.
3. Once you turn off the pump, the water level is lower in the sump. At least for me, because of filter media. You can see that in that picture.
4. Install the ATO sensor in the center sump.

I attached a picture of my water level.

Hi jubal,
Thanks for the info, for me it's actually the opposite way. if i turn off the pump the level of the sump will become the same as the water level of the display tank. do you use the original media in your filter chambers or did you upgrade it?

it looks like you have a lot more cables then i have hence the question :).
( i'm still very new so taking it step by step but in the end i want the neccesary caring for the aquarium to be as automated as possible).

You are right, when I turn the pump on the level goes down. It was early when I wrote it.

Anyway, I removed the sock holders and replaced them with InTank Media Basket.

The cables are the heater, and the temperature sensor for the InkBird Pro to make sure the heater doesn't boil the fish, which happened to me once. The next cable is for the Tunze 3155 ATO. Then I have a Tunze 9004 Commline DOC Protein skimmer and a PhytoTank refugium (new install) below the aquarium. Good luck with your setup.

BTW: The first year will be a lot of work.
