I have live rock for KP aquatics in a rubber maid bin. I plan to leave them in there for several months. I don't plan on getting my DT up until after the holidays.

should I consider lighting the rock after 30p days or so? there are sponges, coralline and various life on it. I was thinking after 30 days, light it with a Kessel on the blue settings for a few hours a day or should I even bother?

If it was me, I would put light on it now. Maybe not what you are looking for, but I had some coral pop up on one of the rocks I got from KP. That coral would have died without any light. Other than that, probably no big deal one way or the other.

For that long of a period I would treat the rock the same as if it were in the display. Heavy Flow, water changes, heat, and a short but consistent photoperoid. Probably wouldn't hurt to let some turbos keep it company.

I'm running heavy flow and a skimmer on it now. I have a few pieces of dry rock in with to cycle those. probably a good idea to light it then.
