So tank is right at 2x years old.
Tank is 90 gallon, 100+ lbs of live rock. Aragonite substrate
So a little around 8 months in i added quiet a few (10+) zoas and a BTA. All were doing amazing! I talked to my LFS and asked what i can do to help my corals grow faster and brighter color. What they told me was to bring all my levels up. I did that and i did it to quick (my fault). Well ALL corals died!
Got a split from the BTA that is hanging in there still. After everything die, i got ticked. Stop really caring for the tank. Also have a clouded wrasse i can NOT get out. He is a **** butt and picks and kills any new fish i add. Between that and killing my corals i started to not care and nearly got out of the hobby. Did not do any water changes, just feed the fish and that was it.
Today, my tank is thriving again.
Ph 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20ish
Phosphate .05
Back in the rhythm and doing my water changes weekly.
Algae is nearly gone and tank is looking great again.
Recently upgraded a second tank from a 35 gallon FOWLR to a 55 gallon FOWLR
So i switched from instant ocean reef crystals to basic instant ocean sea salt.
I do have a box of aqua forest reef salt that i plan on using for my water changes once i add some corals back.
I do have everything from red sea to dose my tank with as well.
Coraline is growing well and from what i read, if coraline is doing well, corals will do well as well (generally speaking).
My question is when would be a good time to add some coral back?
Would it be a good time since all my levels (KH, Calcium, Phosphate, Magnesium) are pretty stable?
Should i start using the new Aqua forest reef salt first and then add corals later?
Also, we are looking to potentially move by the end of next year (will be local). Would it be worth it to add corals if we do plan on moving? Are corals easy to transport/move? I feel like it would be easier on corals that livestock.
Mainly looking to do zoas, some shrooms, and flower pots.
