Hello all,

So I recently purchased this Redsea Reefer525 I relocated it from the sellers house. I used all the same rock and all the same water. The tank has been running for about three days now and it’s looking pretty steady. I have in mind to do a water change soon. All the parameters seem to be ok ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0 definitely wanna work on upping it a lil
Ph 8.0

3 ai lighting

I did start dosing microbactor clean since the seller mentioned he was fighting algae so I went ahead and started dosing it since day 1 to get it right it’s worked wonders in my previous tanks

Has Uv light
Skimmer

No live stock yet

What advice would you guys give me going foward w this project. WC before live stock etc just wanna do this one as best as I can

Let’s discuss

Use a denitrifying bacteria such as micro bacter XLM and assure you’re not getting false readings
What test kits are you using?
With the live rock, it’s possible tank is seeded but assure this is the case

I was in the same position and used about 50-60 percent water from their tank to mine. Filled the rest up with new sea water. When my levels tested good after a week I added my fish. All are doing very well. Theres a purple tang, blue tang, kole tang and a butterflyfish.

Also I didnt use his rock, he had those pyramid snails all over them. Salvaged the corals thankfully. I put new rock in. He had about 40 pounds of live sand, i kept that and put about 80 pounds of new sand over it (to help nutrients) and the tank is running very well and thriving
