As the title says, I’m curious if anyone knows what types of copepods show up on our glass when we start a tank with live rock. I would assume harpacticoid? These couldn’t be Apocyclops or Tisbe could they?

I’ve got a pretty good culture of Nannochloropsis going and dose about 1/2 gallon per day on a continuous drip into my 600 gallon system. Do you think the Copepod species on the glass is benefiting from the phyto I add?

I’m probly going to start culturing Apocyclops here soon.

For stuff that rode in on actual live rock from the ocean they could be any a thousand+ species of tropical marine copepods, likely multiple species. Good chance they’ll eat phyto. Good chance the planktivores will nom nom nom on any of them they come across.

I agree with the previous posters, any of the thousands of species of pods could have hitchhiked in on live rock. You can probably narrow it down to one of the benthic species, but beyond that you'd really just be guessing.
