With Memorial day around the corner, I was wondering what sort of charcoal do you use.... I know this is about as bad as what kind of salt do you use but I am curious what people think is the best and why.

I am currently using:

Kingsford Professional Competition Briquettes

But mainly because they were on sale at Costco.

I just use standard Kingsford briquettes and a cheap chimney with paper and a little vegetable oil to fire it up. I'll add chunk wood for flavor while cooking.

For charcoal I use B&B char-logs. I prefer them in my smoker because they seem to last a lot longer than normal briquettes. I have several grills and each gets used for certain cooks. Now that I have a Recteq it is my main grill. Use the weber for steaks and sometimes sausage. Got the stick burner for briskets and butts. May add a griddle to the mix over the summer.
