Thanks for your response! I was hoping it was a sponge. It doesn't seem to be negatively affecting the coral as of now.The picture is a little blurry, but the organism appears to be a sponge (white sponges are highly variable, so chances are, the ones shown below are not 100% matches), which are usually harmless filter-feeders. Does it seem to be negatively affecting the coral?

I'll try to take one tomorrow when it opens back up. It gets really compact when the lights go down at night. How about a top view of that brain.

Actually, the cerebellum is the most accurate answer to the OP's question, but medulla oblongata sounds cooler and is right next to it@Erin1971Texas
These comments are obviosly not from brain surgeons. The spot on the base of the brain:
noun: pituitary gland
- the major endocrine gland. A pea-sized body attached to the base of the brain, the pituitary is important in controlling growth and development and the functioning of the other endocrine glands.
- I had to look it up, but we all were thinking it.
- Is your head itching now? Mine is.
Here are some pictures of the brain I took today. Don’t worry it’s sitting well above that RFA, the angle is deceiving lol.How about a top view of that brain.
