What is this on my coral frag?

I just bought this pulsing xenia frag and there's this black structure on it. What is this? Is this a part of the coral? (I'm dipping the coral at the moment)

Probably just a piece of rubble or dead coral the Xesina was originally fragged from.

It's a ruber-like material. Is this anything bad?

It may be a sponge, but I'm not certain. Either way, I agree that I wouldn't be too worried by it.
