I know my nitrates are higher than registering because it's being held in this crazy hair algae. Most snails die in my tank think do to nitrates. I have recently added chaeto to try to out compete, doing more water changes but doesn't seem to help. I also have cyanocobacteria so I wasn't sure if this was some hairy form of that. I just want to know how to get rid of it and lower my nitrates too. It's growing all over the back and rock but so far my coral is okay with it...for now.

Previous and current parameters? Cyano usually kicks in when things go haywire. Like going from high to lower nutrients, or when using NoPox and such.
Yes I was using Nopox to try to lower nitrates to get rid of that brown fuzzy algae that took over the back of my tank. My salinity is at 1.024 Mag is 1430 Calcium is 455 KH is about 9 temp is between 76-78 mostly 77 my nitrates were registering at 5 and ammonia was 0 and so were nitrites. I stopped using Nopox and Microbacter 7 over 1 week ago and started doing 5 gallon water changes daily.

Phosphate? Tried dosing live phyto? Worked for my algae and cyano.

I tried that but it didn't work l, however I did just discover my RODI was running with the waste valve open. Hopefully this helps now that it's closed.
