~$100 PetSmart 37 gallon Top Fin "essentials" aquarium starter kit because:
  • Got me started with everything I needed (equipment wise)
  • Included HOB power filter is still in use on my 40 gallon today
  • Heater failed later under warranty and turned into me getting my current 2 heaters for like $2 out of pocket

I’d have to say the atk is first but with the Neptune apex to keep an eye on things. I’ve always wanted one when I first got into the hobby years ago. Since I just got back into it that was one of my top purchases.

Tough to pick just one, but among my favorites:

Vivosun 800gph pump for water changes
Turkey Baster
Long Handled Multi-Tool (ie can swap out small net, narrow bottle style brush to get in and around powerheads and rockwork if needed).
AI Hydra 26HD lights. Once I got the programming dialed in they adjust and re-sync like clockwork any time the power goes out gets shut off, etc. and adjust for daylight savings. These are the only lights I have ever owned where I didn't have to reset something at some point over the course of a given year.

This auto stirrer. I have 3 Hannah checkers but for No3 and Mag I use titration kits and having to manually mix was kind of a pain sometimes. I love this thing. Buy extra magnetic stirrers because it only comes with 1 and I lost mine today.

My ATO followed by simple LED lights (because when I first started I had ballasts and VHOs and wires everywhere) and then a wifi power strip so I can turn things on/off with my phone.
What wifi strip you using? I can find one with enough outlets

Few things: An Inkbird controller, Oase Biomaster 350 Thermo, UNS mini surface skimmer, couple Mercenaria mercenaria, mangroves, and macro algae. After almost a decade, finally free of mechanical filtration and it’s maintenance. Yes, i don’t run sponges in the canister or surface skimmer.
