I'm currently feeding Reef Roids once a week. I've heard of people using Brightwell's Coral Aminos as another popular option. I want to hear everyone's favorite and what they feel has worked best for them!

I have a hard time picking a favorite or really having an idea of what seems to work better than others and instead just dump a wide variety in.

In my frag system that is about 250 gallons total i feed about a 1/2 TABLEspoon of dry(reef roids, reef chili, or Reef Candy) and about equivelant of 6 frozen cubes daily(coral gumbo, mysis, daphnia, rotifers, polyp poppers and a couple others I cant think of the name). Plus about 80ml each of Acropower and Reef Energy 2-3x a week. Feed fish heavily with TDO Chroma Boost pellets a couple times a day. Target feed LPS with lps pellets 3x a week. Also feed live brine shrimp daily and about 8 ounces of phyto daily.

I haven't noticed any nutrient swings, no - but I'm only using 1/4 of the recommended dose for my tank size.
Hmmm, I might try doing a smaller dose too. Ultimately looking for something to supplement the Reed Roids for more variety

I ran out of Reef Roids and haven't had a chance to restock, but will also be resuming this shorty (2x/week).

@mdb_talon @blaxsun I was dosing Red Sea AB+ daily up until I had a nutrient imbalance (heavy phos and low nitrate) and got cyano. Have either of you noticed any nutrient swings when using it?

I do occasionally get a big phosphate spike up to near .1. The last few months I am battling to keep both nitrate and phosphate above 0. Mostly they are staying 0.0 even with very heavy feeding, but occasionally I get that phosphate spike (and it is to 0.0 next day always). It could be caused by the reef energy, but no way for me to really say that it is.

Always fun trying to figure out what causes the spikes lol. I struggled with that earlier this year

Mixed reef here with majority SPS and LPS (euphyllia).
  • Reef Roids typically 1-2x a week
  • LPS GroFormula (Barrier Reef Labs) on alternating 1-2x a week
  • Acropower Amino Acids about 1 mL daily
  • Rods Food coral blend mixed with PE mysis - a small thumbnail portion daily
Fish get mostly mysis from the frozen blend, but do enjoy whatever is broadcast fed in the tank.

I've had some nutrient fluctuations, so i'm still trying to dial in feeding routine, chaeto/fuge efficiency, water changes, and dosing!

I don't usually feed anything specific for corals.

Most brains, especially acans, seem to grow faster when target fed meaty foods. I'm skeptical that they would get much out of broadcasting small stuff. I'm more skeptical that other stony corals get much from it.
