(40”L x 20” W x 22” T) built by local Edmonton tank Builder www.Aqua-lab.ca

And here is my NSA Aqua Scape Rock Work!

I went with Marco dry rock.. A combo of Reef Saver, Premium Shelf, and Half cut Base.

I smashed it all down and then super glued it all back together. Then mortared it using Emarco 400.

I built an NSA scape rather than just stacking random rocks. I think it looks much better and gives awesome depth and uniqueness.

I still have some finishing touches to do but it’s pretty much ready for the tank.

And for the sand I kept with the “All Dry - Sterile” theme and I’m using Marco Dry Sand.

My tank was custom built by Leo and his team over at www.Aqua-lab.ca in Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada.

It Naturally includes fully machined glass, which is lightyears ahead of scored, snapped and polished and bevelled.

I went with the size 40" wide, a depth of 20" and a height of 22". I was limited by my length and width due to available space in my house, but If I could have built it the size I wanted to build it.. it would have been 4' long by 20" deep and 20" tall. I'm not the biggest fan of tall tanks.. I like having my hand in it too much.

I chose black silicone beads, with a starphire front pane.

Leo and his team are true professionals and every aspect of the build was personally chosen by me, and I have to admit.. I didn't know the answers to most. Leo was very helpful and friendly in deciding how and where everything will go.

They beautifully flush mounted my Eshopps Prodigy L overflow box with the tank edge and coned it in so no organics can get behind the inner overflow box body.

I love the tank, and I can't wait to have them build me my next masterpiece.

Didn’t get a lot of time to work on the build but I was able to figure out where to mark the panels to be cut out for the plumbing to flow through the sides of the stand.

also got the rocks placed in the tank..

Kind of half lazy- half thinking “why do I need to” I decided to not try to cover the mortar with crushed rock sand..

My thoughts are that in several months it will be covered in corals and beautiful coralline algae (or so I hope)

I’m wondering about nutrients...

is a twisted skimmer, a macro algae reactor AND A CLARISEA too much.. ??
I’m aiming to have really low maintenance but I’m almost thinking that’s toooo much removal.

Hey all,

today I’m contemplating heaters.. I ordered a couple of the 250w lifegard bi metal heaters only to read reviews saying that they have all been junk for people. Cutting out within the first few months.

I really wish that BRS had a warehouse/store up in Canada, because I would love to buy a couple of their titanium heaters.

most stores don’t really care titanium heaters here because of the price per unit.

however I did manage to find some. I am buying 2x 250w and putting them on an ink it’s controller until I get my profilux.

I find it strange that in a hobby where people have literally thought of every little gadget and gizmo- no one has decided to make the “ultimate” heater.
if there was a heater that I knew would last the life of my tank, without having to worry, I would happily pay $200-300.
