About 4 weeks ago my Midas wouldn’t come out of his hole even to feed. He wasn’t a juvenile when I got him and I’ve had him a few years so I thought it might be old age based on lifespan quotes on the internet.
I have been hand feeding him to ensure he eats - which he has done. His colours have maintained their vibrancy and no visible signs of illness.
The only fish I’ve added is a Mandarin so I can’t believe that’s the cause by aggression! Indeed about a week ago he changed his hole to one at ground level and was close to the Mandarin.
A couple of times he disappeared and I feared my Boxers and Red Bloods had dealt with him - only for him to reappear back in his hole!
Suddenly, after 4 weeks he has started to come out and chase the food as he has always done. Weird!
