Hi all,

I'm running a WB 3620 Peninsula and I'm looking to get rid of the Filter Socks as they are getting annoying to clean so often. They get barely dirty and start overflowing. I was hoping to get some thoughts on what I could replace them with for this specific tank. I was thinking of finding a big sponge and shoving it down there, it would capture any large chunks that make it down there and the Skimmer should get the rest. I run Purigen and ChemiPure Elite as well.

I don't have many options as to what I can fit in this chamber as this sump has a built in filter sock holder that can't be removed. Not sure what else would work outside of a sponge but figured I'd ask anyway. I hate the sound of the trickling water, so that's why I'm looking to replace it with something else rather than just removing the socks outright.

Thanks!

Oh interesting, I like both those options. The media cup may be a good option for me if I can find one that fits.

Thanks!

how but putting in a kilr 4 roller filter in place of one of the socks. It can run up to 500 gph quietly. Can disable the float switch and manually turn the fleece roll or control it via a hydros or apex or use the switch only when away from tank for a few days. The fleece will remove any decaying food detritus etc

Another vote for the reef diapers if you have 4 inch sock holders. I've used them for close to 2 years I think. They seem expensive but are so worth it IMO. 4 inch socks are a pain to clean. I'm still cleaning 7 inch socks but they are easier to turn inside out lol. Would love to add a roller but I'm changing two 7 inch socks every 2-3 days so fleece would break the bank I think.
