I currently have an MP40 on the left and the right of the tank. The left is higher and centered and right is lower and towards the back. I am having issues with placing the right one because the corals seem to get direct flow if I place it in a similar way as the left. I am only running them at 20% reef crest. I was thinking about moving them both to the top left since there's more open area on that side.

What would y'all recommend for ideal placement?

Not sure, I used to have a large powerhead on each side like you, but pointing more to the surface. Then four across the back wall spaced out.

My biggest issue was sandstorms, but found doing it like so wouldn't move too much sand and the corals were happy. I would also place more sensitive coral to flow in more protected areas by the rock.
