Water softener for new home

Looking for recommendations on a water softener for new home. Not sure if any particular benefit to pre-RODI unit install, but I will look into that. There are so many options out there I'm looking to see if anyone has a recommended brand or unit they like. Looks like even Pentair makes softener systems, which of course seems like a trusted name.
