Q1: Two Nero 5’s on a 65g. Absolutely love them. They also clean up pretty easily with some citric acid solution.

Q2: I’d say Nero 5 because of the app, the control (without a separate device/link needed), and the price point. I’ve only had Hydor Koralia’s before, so I don’t have much to compare to, but the outside-the-display-cord of the Vortechs is a nice feature I don’t have.

P.S. - this was referred to pages ago, but if Nero 5 users are interested in flow read outs at various power settings, I generated a table for reference:

I use a cor20 return pump in my 220g. I like to be able to adjust flow at night, but the water level plays havic with the AWC (ie you increase flow which kicks off ATO, lower flow and your up to your dosing tubes clogging them up). I ended up leaving fliw constant.

For aux flow, I've been using two nero 5s since they came out. Controlabilty is nice, but quality isn't there. First one got a crack in the cable which allowed water to get to the pump. Customer service was excellent. Magnets suck. Just came home today with sand all over the tank. I assume one of my golfball-sized turbos dismounted one. Starfish also get eaten up by these. My large snails frequent them a lot with no deaths. When i first intoduced my baby biota mandarins, i had to fashion some large-holed filter media to cover the intake to keep them from swallowing them up as spinning down and then powering back up rapidly could easily have done them in. After a few months i took them off as the mandarins settled in and have established hunting grounds that don't include the glass.

Four Vortechs on my 72x24 tank. There are some other great power heads but until there is another one that has zero wires in the tank, I'll stick with MP's.

I've been using Neptune Wav pumps (2) and I've already had to replace two and am in need of yet another. I like the fact that the Apex can control it but I'm pretty much done with the reliability.

4 vortech mp40’s on my 200 like the design very much but louder than I think they should be. Keep an extra wet side and keep rotating them as I clean em which is super convenient

you havent had a fish get sucked in? My impressions based on reviews is that they kill fish
The SLW-10s have a very similar design, and I'd say that you have to be careful, yes. I have a striped blenny that likes to swim into mine when they turn off for feeding or maintenance. He just sits there with his head poking out - surveying things. I'm looking for some nylon mesh material to make a couple of small drawstring type envelopes that go completely around them. I like sushi, but I want to make sure I don't end up saying "Oh my god, I killed Kenny (the blenny)! Me *******!"

No never, my own opinion is the fish that are sucked in are probably weak anyway, ive had fish swim right up to and behind them and do fine, but if you are worried there are guards you can buy.

2 x MP10 in a reefer 350... very happy great pumps...buuuut with two new tanks on the horizon one of which would need MP40s & other MP60s can't help thinking theres a lot more value for money out their, so think Reef octopus and Gyres will get some serious consideration

75 gallon
1 mp40 and 1 mp10 and 1 jeabo.
Not to happy with the mp's. They are loud and the 10 keeps coming detached. I clean it all the time. They do move a lot of water but are expensive and the sand won't stay where I put it.
The jeabo I have had for 5 years. It can be pointed up so the sand doesn't blow around and is much quieter than the mp's.

Maxspect gyre f330. Love the flow. The price is not so bad around where I leave. And I really like the way it sits on the tank.
A bit to noise and it would be lovely if there was a way to disconnect it in the middle of the cable.
Cleaning isn't that big of a problem, but having to take the cable out and put it back in again all the time sucks.

I would probably still choose the Gyre's (probably adding a second one down the line. Same controller so still cheaper to buy).

I have a 300 gallon fish and softies.....with a lobo....it comes out from a wall so is only visible on the sides; therefore for aesthetic purposes I need a pump that the magnet can go inside the overflow box keeping the cord close the box for hiding purposes and be angled down a bit for maximum coverage; any recommendations?

Water movement in a saltwater reef aquarium is so important on many levels so using the right ones in the right configuration for your tank is a pretty big deal! But with so many choices out there it's sometimes hard to choose! Today let's talk about which powerhead(s) or water mover(s) you use and why!

1. What pumps or powerheads are you using to provide water flow in your aquarium and are you happy with them?

2. If you could choose any powerhead or pump on the market what would you choose?

Jaebo wave makers 2 pp8’s and 1 pp20., all have been running for around 4+ years. They seem to give the fish and corals plenty of flow,

I run 2 MP 10s on my 60 gallon Cube.

I chose those when returning to the hobby after doing a bunch of research and reading reviews.

I love them so far.
I was wandering if 2 mp10's or 1 mp40 . Which would be best on a cube this size ? Anybody else try this ?
