Because they disco ball when hung that low.Why do you want them higher?
Can you explain the hanging mod more please. There's room to raise them with a mod to how you have them hung. My 300 vipars are about 13.5" above water level. Or..you can take them apart and remove the lens covers. Drop thr lights lower as this will increase the blend and spread but drop par. So you have to crank the lights up if you go this route.
These lights have burned my corals. They are very strong lights.Fuethermore, depending on what coral you are going to keep, you can add some led bars to the front and back of the 165s. 4 165s aren't going to be a whole lot of light on a 300 gallon.
I will try that. Thank you.
Looks to be a good bit of open space above the lights. But, because you have the wires at such an angle they won't go up any more. Hang the wires going straight up instead. Looks like it would be able to be raised 4-5"
I run mine at 72% blue channel and run 1% white. The white only runs a couple hours. Yes..they are strong. Even stronger when you have hot spots from being hung so low because they don't blend. These lights have burned my corals. They are very strong lights.
You won't need to raise them. You could probably lower them what kind of coral do ypu keep or plan to?They are 9” above the water. I took out the lenses. Do you think that will help or should I raise them higher?
