Hey just wondering if someone can let me know if this is a vermetid snail. I’ve had the coral for a while. They were very prolific in another tank, but then they eventually all seemed to die off. I’m also wondering if this snail may be dead and it’s just a husk. Thanks!

Sure looks like one! Does it have a little mucus string coming out of it?

No mucus string. When I was doing my research, that was the one thing that was different from my case, but that being said, I’m no expert on these guys either. The coral grew on them too and I didn’t notice it actively bothering the coral. The coral is Xenia, so they’re pretty durable to harassment... almost to a point of being a pest themselves!

Could be empty, unless you’ve seen some activity at the tube entrance.

In conclusion, I pulled out the rock and cut off all the vermetid snails I could find with a bone cutter. They were all empty. But now I have peace of mind. Thanks everybody!
