Afternoon ladies and gents,

I purchsed a urchin today as part of my CUC but i have a problem, "he" seems to have lodged himself in a hole in my rock and i cant get him out, common sense says he walked in he can walk out, but what if he gets stuck?

They can move their spines around to, essentially, make themselves different shapes. They can also crawl in any direction, and have feet all over their bodies. An urchin that gets into somewhere can 100% get back out, unless that somewhere changes shape around it.

Urchins are funny little things. It definitely helps to have a sense of humor with them in the tank. They will pick up and move everything you love! The only time to worry about them is if a rock falls around them or if they start to drop their spines. Otherwise, they will do what they want! :)

I've never had any problems with mine walking away with things they shouldn't. One of them spends it's days finding algae to walk around with (though it's had it's viking had on for a week now). The other one is...odd. Probably a year ago I dropped a rubber washer in the tank. It will pick it up, walk around with it for a few days and always puts it back in the same spot. On the occasion that it drops it, it'll be back to pick it up within a few hours. But 90% of the time that washer is either on the urchin or sitting in the same spot in the tank.
