Upside down NPS gorgonians. I sit possible?

So "deep below the ocean waves in labyrinths of coral caves," you may find "the echo of a distant time." However if you are in the Pacific, you are more likely to find gorgonians in the coral caves so long as there is a lot of flow.

Can I do this in my tank? I would plan to set up an auto feeder above a powerhead aimed at the bottom of my giant arch. Can it be done??

As long as they are NPS I think they will not grow towards the light, but follow gravity which seems to still go "down" underwater.

To my knowledge, it should definitely be possible (though the growth pattern may be a bit different than if it was put upright).

Ok so in a reef life long ago in a reef far away I had a nps 90g. I never did well with the soft nps or gorgs. I dont want to try remembering or spelling correct names so I refer to them like soft nps (dendropenthia???) and lps nps (ryzos, dendro, sun corals and to an extent black or wire corals). Lps nps did wonderfully for me. I think I was not able to supply the correct food types/sizes/amount for soft nps. The lps nps though are much easier to feed. I did have certain ones on the sandbed large ones but I also attached the smaller ones to over hangs and the bottom of arches. They grew fine and fed fine in that orientation. I believe that if you can find the correct food types and frequency of feeding that your dreams of soft nps on the bottom of your arch is readily available for you to achieve. I dont know but I think they will grow out and up (in your case down would be up) mostly. It is possible if you find a particularly "buoyant" nps it may "float" up a little around the arch but probably will grow more with the flow of water.

The problem with soft nps I think is water quality degrading if fed enough. I have seen some really nice nps tanks though, I am not sure how they pull it off maintenance wise. Since my 90g was tied to my main reef I needed to be careful with water quality. Feeding the nps lps 3-4 times a week was not much of a strain on the system. Adding extra liquid or powdered food for the soft ones added up quickly. I believe one of the nicest nps tank I have seen may have been feeding live rotifers. I think that was someone here. I will have to go looking.
