Listen, I know we all like the fancy stuff. But there are some pretty amazing coral that often fly under the radar and are overlooked. Maybe because they're not traditionally "beautiful", are considered "pests" by some, or whatever excuse. I want to know what your favorite underrated coral is!

My favorite underrated coral its a toadstool. For whatever reason, I don't see them getting the love they deserve! They're relatively easy to keep, low maintenance, grow well, and happily host clowns (in my experience, at least). Here is my monster toadstool I had in college!

The metalic blue mushrooms which everyone in the 90's had, but now you can't find them for the life of you....

I so want some, but i am not going to pay bounce prices for something that used to be inside the budget bucket bin one would look though in college when you were poor.

I think an overlooked coral is the blue ridge coral, the only soft coral that builds a skeleton.. Its rather plain looking, the outside is brown, but the inside is blue from the iron it consumes from the water.

My understanding is that it is a rather common coral, but I've never seen it in anyone else's tank and it gets no love. Mine is a few years old, it grows these little fingers.

I've been surprised by how much I love my little random Leathers. They're so snotty - randomly they decide to be grumpy and shrink to nothing, then, minutes later, they're back out and fully extended. There's a lot of subtlety I never noticed until I got some in my tank.

I love seeing the little stripes on the foot of this white leather. It's a shocking color too which has been really fun and it just sets the other colors off so nicely.

This purple guy took 3 weeks to stop being grumpy when we got him. But he's just so dramatic when something bumps into him, like a hermit, that it makes me laugh every time.

I know they're 'beginner' corals and a lot of folks find them boring but I think they add a lot of interest and texture to a mixed reef tank.

They certainly are beautiful, though!
I love this. It looks like it would be a lovely pillow! :face-with-tears-of-joy:
Super cool! I can't recall ever seeing something like this? The way it's growing up makes it look like a little forrest.
