Tuning in Reef Octopus 150SSS protein skimmer

I have a new tank with THD above mentioned protein skimmer. Has anyone had any luck getting these tuned in? I turn it on with the valve fully open and the bubbles overflow right into the collection cup. I just ordered a stand because I think it may be too low in the sump, but I was wondering if anyone has run into this before.

I had to run mine for about 2 weeks wide open with the plug pulled on the drain before I was able to actually get it to start skimming.

I have the same skimmer. I was working fine for over a year. Now it seems to be doing nothing OR bubbling lots of water into the cup.
I watched several YouTube / BRS videos and still cannot get it work right. Following this thread.
