So, my pipe organ is kinda out of control. It's getting to be the size of a volleyball or a grapefuit. Do people just trim the skeleton and if so by how much? Any benefit to not trimming? Any benefit to trimming?

I’m not informed on this topic much but will reply so someone with knowledge can hopefully see this and help.
Pipe Organ corals are very easy to trim/frag. You can use a hacksaw blade (or a coping saw) to cut it in to pieces. Glue the chunks onto a frag tile or rock and you are good to go. If the coral is on a rock in the tank you can cut it off close to the base and it will be fine. If you can, get a blade without paint (or take the paint off) as this will rub off onto the rock/coral as you saw (I'm sure the manufacturers weren't thinking about use in a reef tank). Also make sure the blade doesn't have oil on it prior to use, they often have oil on them at purchase. There was a nice Reefbuilders video a while back where Jake Adams cut his pipe organ up with a cake knife.
