So i have a torch and i did a water change yesterday today it is open just not as much as it usually is, is this normal it does close up for water changes but fine the next day

1.025 salinity
427ppm calcium
0.05 phos
57ppm nitrate (working on it)
7.4 alk
mag 1300
ammonia 0
nitrite 0

I'm new to torches. Only had one for a month so far, but my very first water change, it did close up pretty good for several hours (not completely). Ever since that first one, it's been good. Just make sure water temp matches.
I'll also add, torches really do best with mag 1400+. You should see an improvement overall if you bump it up a bit.
Alk is a little low too, but as long as it's stable, you should be ok for now, but might want to look into raising it a little over time.

Would definitely raise you alk to 8+ if you can, this should help raise your mg over time too. Wouldn't worry too much about the nitrates just work on them, mine are 30-40 right now, I find my LPS love it. Torch looks fine thought! I would check the flesh band just to make sure it is good and not receding.

Thing is if i up my mag my its going to fluctuate all the time as my salt mixs at 1300 stability is key

working on the alk just ordered a new hanna alk regent my old 1 was still in date but must have expired old 1 says alk was at 8.4 but new 1 says i was at 7 so been slowly dosing alk to bring it up

Torches dont favor changes in water quality which a water change will do and this is often the case. As long as water change did not alter the tank chemistry.

I think they got a mind of their own haha! Mine always look good then yesterday all my lps was super puffy! I’ve never seen them so big! Today back to regular lol..

yeah hope so haha i'm not worried about it as it is still open just not as open as usual only reason i posted this is i have 2 very very expensive torches coming on friday so wanted to make sure everything was ok

i would slowly raise your alk to 8.
Also my torch will close up when it poops. then puffy a few hours later. could this possibly be it?
i don't feed my torch only my scoly last time i tried to feed a torch it died so i just leave them alone now
