Tiger torch coral salvagable or is it over

So about 2 weeks ago I bought a tiger torch, all good and happy. I placed it with my other torches (yes they touch) and this torch seemed a bit... unhappy. Nothing crazy, just as if its trying to get used to its new environment. After a while I decided to research what could lead to this and read tiger torches do not like to be touched (not even by other torches). However I noticed my torch has retracted quite a bit and I am afraid it's suffering from BJD(?) I put him in a QT tank under blue lights where he is completely alone, hoping he'll bounce back.

If you (gently) remove it you can check for BJD with the "smell test".

Nope… no smell whatsoever (aside from salt water smell)… but judging by how retracted it is I cannot help but to wonder: could it have been stung to death (no BJD)?

Anecdotally, torches from different regions (Aussie vs Indo vs Malaysian) sometimes don't play nice together. As far as I can recall, a lot of "tiger" torches are of Malaysian origin, but I could be mistaken. As long as the torch has white tissue extending down the skeleton below the head, it should recover. They can be moody and periodically retract like this at certain times of day. I'd just leave it alone so it can get used to the spot, and keep an eye out for any signs of infection. I wouldn't bother dipping unless there is clear sign of brown jelly or other infection.

I would think not or you would be nauseous, puking , eyes watering and lightheaded. Good news. Earlier this year I lost 2 torches, frogspawn and hammers because I intervened to late. I would still suggest an iodine dip.

I dipped it and put it in QT tank. Hopefully it’ll recover.

Yeah god amen save me. I just checked up on it and it had what seemed a brown slimy coating and smelling it… save my nostrils. What a shame. 200 bucks down the drain because I put it together with other torches. Sometimes these lessons really hurt my wallet… and in this case also my nostrils.

I've never had iodine bring a torch that far gone back but have with ciprofloxacin or even better get stuff on hand for a KFC dip specially if you like torches everyone always just says iodine which has only killed my torches faster dose the whole tank with ciprofloxacin
