Thank you!I love it.. Great job.
Thanks! Algae rainbow! ;CatStarting to look like a rainbow in there.
A little nippy (which I guess is to be expected), but nothing too dramatic.Love the damsels. Aer they getting nippy with each other yet?
Gulf Coast Ecosystems, Reefcleaners, and Ebay are my go-to spots.Where do you manage to get the different species of algaes from. Sorry if this has been asked and answered.
Thanks! I think I’m done with fish now that I have these 2 damsels and my waspfish (which never comes out of hiding).Sexy shrimp, sweet little guys. Your tanks are quite outstanding! Gonna replace the Pygmy wrasse? Mine stayed hidden all the time.
This is a love story. About a [tigah]boy who fell in love with macroalgae...
So I became totally enamored with macroalgae when I added them to a couple of my prior reef tanks (you can find them here in this thread), and I've always been drawn to the freshwater planted tank/scape aesthetic, so decided to take a stab (usually with curved stainless steel scissors) at a saltwater planted tank with macroalgae as the star. Here's the breakdown.
Set-up
Tank: UNS 45A (9 gallons)
Light: Twinstar Light II 450E (full spectrum planted tank lights)
Pump: Sicce Syncra 0.5
Media: InTank Filter Floss Holder (was made for a WB7), InTank Filter Floss, and MarinePure Bio Cubes
Heater: Cobalt Neo-Therm 75w Heater
Substrate: Caribsea Fiji Pink Sand
LR: KPAquatics Premium Live Rock
Inhabitants
Macroalgae: Gracilaria hayi (red macroalgae), Caulerpa prolifera (red macroalgae), and Hypnea pannosa (blue macroalge)
Coral: Pterogorgia citrina (Yellow Sea Whip Gorg) and Pterogorgia anceps (Purple Ribbon Gorg)
Fish: Coryphopterus personatus (Masked Gobies)
Inverts: Various hermits and snails
Some more recent shots:
I'm planning a couple more macroalgae tanks (I'm hooked!), so will post them in this thread as well. Stay tuned and thanks for stopping by!
Lots and lots (and lots) of new stuff for the macroalgae tanks this week! Here's a few (haven't taken photos of everything).
Sargassum
Laurencia
Bryothamnion
Halymenia
Picked up a couple Blue Sapphire Damsels (Springeri) to take care of my flatworm population. They've pretty much taken out all the visible ones, so I'm satisfied with the results.
UNS 60S looks pretty empty without Waldo.
Also, added some caulerpa taxifolia.
Halimeda. The caulerpa is taxifolia.Which Feather Caulerpa and what is the green macro to the left behind the feather?
