Post to document my new AIO cube set up. quickly after breaking my last tank down i wanted back in! Decided to go really small and simple.

A few goals for the tank:
One power strip worth of stuff. Pump, light, heater, auto top off. No skimmer, no dosing pumps, super simple.

1 pair of clownfish, no other fish. I looked hard at some really nice black helmet clowns online, lots of different varieties locally. After several weeks of looking at lots of clowns, I found the pair. A mucha storm and an orange storm that really stood out to me.

Plans for corals include strictly softies: Zoas, some Florida ricordeas, a green star polyp back wall, and possible a bubble tip anemone. I had a torch in there but the clowns quickly found it so I had to remove it.

the tank was started on February 25th, 2023. 1 single piece of real reef rock and about 5lbs of Carib sea Fiji pink.

I used fritz turbo start. Between that and the live sand, some frozen food to get it started, the cycle was done in just a couple weeks. I got a kraken reef lid, upgraded the pump to a sicce 1.0, and the light is a fluval nano led. The auto top off is a reef breeders (it’s very nice, much better than the previous ones I’ve had)

The fluval nano light is ok, but not great. Doesn’t have a whole lot of punch. I’m gonna upgrade that to an Ai prime.

On March 25 I added the clowns.

I upgraded my light today to a used ai prime 16hd I found locally. It’s much better.

the tanks first coral was 2 polyps of “sunny d” zoanthids, although I don’t believe that’s what they are. They have already grown into 5 polyps. Last week I got 4 polyps of “golden gods” that are really nice. I also got a neon green toadstool 2 weeks ago. Last week he was closed up, but today he opened up much better. I adjusted the flow and I think he likes the new light.

Added a green Florida Ricordea and a 6 polyp frag of rastas this week.

has anyone run a Nero 3 in a tank this small? I’m thinking it would be overkill, but they look much cleaner than all the other options. Does anyone know if AI will be coming out with a Nero 1?

Jebao ELW-3m is the Nero 1 you're looking for. The Nero 3's MINIMUM flow is 600gph, the ELW-3m's MAXIMUM flow is 660gph. :D

The thing is TINY, and the programing interface is basically the same as the Nero (I have used both), just with a few less options. I have several of the Jebao MLW-5 pumps, but the new little 3m is going to be my go to for pico and small nano tanks from now on.

Hows the mushroom getting on? my an away when introduced them at a similar time (only found one)
They are doing great. I let the green ric settle in for a week, then fragged it with 1 mouth in one piece and 2 mouths on the other. Both are now glued down and looking good. I also added a really nice orsnge/ green Florida Ricordea last week.

this weekend I went to the DFW area and checked out a few shops. I went to the coral vault, and WOW that place is insane. By far the nicest shop I’ve ever seen. Unbelievably nice stuff. I got an “acid trip” BTA which is incredible. I also got 8 polyps of sonic flair zoanthids and about 30 polyps of some hornet Zoas.
