Those Who Have Black Sand in Their Tanks, Why Did you Choose it?

I always love seeing tanks with black sand, I think it gives an interesting look to tanks and looks different than the standard sand color. I'm wondering what made you choose this kind of sand over normal-looking sand

I don’t have black in my reef tanks, but I do in one of my freshwater systems:

The only fish is a red wolf fish:

Being a generally darker fish, I find that he (and the rocks) look much nicer against the darker substrate.

I prefer the look of white sand on a reef, but would be willing to give black a try depending on the setup.
