I love me some wrasse's, so I want to see everyone's wrasse pictures! Please share!

I've been practicing my fish taking.. Snapped a decent one of my Naoko Wrasse, still need to polish up on my skills though!

Be careful with fairies and those two, they may not be all too welcoming (there are some exceptions though).

If it's flashing it's a male :)
I thought that, it’s weird though as the flashing isn’t obvious (unlike I’ve seen with carpenteri) and its more so like the fish is flashing as a male with minimal changes other than maybe the anal fin becoming more vibrant.

He's probably not settled in enough yet to put on a show for you. Do you still have your other flasher wrasse?

Unfortunately that hybrid flasher ended up jumping when I added my regal Angel. However the reason I didn’t find him was I heard the splash but thought I counted everyone, then the next day I noticed the hybrid had vanished - Then found him down the back of the couch.

I do plan for a third new wrasse to add, whether I’ll wait for my dream flasher or go for a different species of wrasse I have no idea. Honestly, most of my wrasses are ‘impulse’ buys and I never expect to come home with them.

Sorry to hear about the jump. Which flasher is your dream flasher?

I've got one of my dream wrasses on order - halichoeres rubricephalus ... fingers crossed it actually makes it into my tank alive (and healthy!)

They are such a cool wrasse. My LFS had some large males in their DT and they were stunning.

but thought I counted everyone

Ohhh!......The Sergeant Schulz roll call head count! (Someone ALWAYS moves to the other end of the line to make up the numbers!)

Edit: Try a species name checklist and tick them off as you see them. The checklist will then reveal the absconder!

It’s a toss up between the attenuatus and Rubricaudalis

Halichoeres rubricephalus is a gorgeous fish, I’ve seen a few males pop into LFSs in the last few years and if females were more available I’d probably replace my Jade once he’s passed.

When you first got your yellow tail tamarin how long did it hide for? I know it’s typical for them to hide especially when first introduced.
I have yet to own a yellow tail personally however after caring for them, generally it’s 2-3 weeks if they aren’t established already but if they are established to captivity it can often be only a few days to even just one week.

Okay good to know! That makes sense.

Do you guys ever get bummed out or sad when you think about your fish, like thinking about how this pretty creature shouldn’t be in my tank and should be in nature?Especially when it comes to wrasses, where all of them (with few exceptions like cleaner wrasses) are not captive bred and are collected from the wild.

I sometimes get this “moral crisis” from time to time, and am curious if others ever feel the same way.

I try and make myself feel better about it by thinking about how their life is much easier in my care. All the food they could ever want or need, no need to be constantly concerned about predators, the ability to more or less “chill” and not have to worry about the usual dangers and struggles with life in nature, and so on. I also like to try and think that they were already collected, and me caring for them saves them from being stuck in some fish store or neglected.

Sorry for the random “downer” post, but I was just thinking about it last night and wanted to ask if anyone else ever feels the same.
