Well I'm down a wrasse. Two nights ago I caught the hawkfish bullying the Maori after lights out and this morning found it on the floor. I know it wasn't the prettiest fish but it had a lot of personality and seemed to be doing well. During the day at least.

If the hawk is to blame that would be the second fish it killed plus the goby it maimed. Its not even a big fish just a violent one I guess.
Sorry for your loss. I’d say it’s time for the hawk to go.

Thanks.
It was evicted to this tank for the same reason. I thought nothing in my second tank could be bullied by it but I was wrong. I'm already returning the lionfish so so long as it isn't too hard to catch that may be what happens.

I’m sorry bro

I remember you removed him from your reef for that same issue, if you do remove that frees up space for another fishy right?

Af that point I’d say the hawk is to be rehomed or get a larger specimen of the Maori if you try again.

Since Crabby mentioned them I may have started a wish list at Reef Exclusive....

They were probably about the same weight. Maybe because this wrasse was not a sand sleeper and thus couldn't hide from the hawk like the coris can? Not in any rush to try again especially as that was the biggest one my LFS had. Someday maybe a different species of maori, if I have the tank for it. Maybe abudjubbe.

Pod population in my tank has been decimated.

However, I'm hatching baby brine shrimp during the work week and Mb and Hc go nuts when I dump them into the tank! Mb especially seems quite adept at darting around picking them off out of the water column. Lovely seeing her so active after what I thought was a close call.

I did a potentially dumb thing trying to qt a C. Exqusitus, lubocki and naokae at the same time. An hour after i put them in the naoko was not happy with the poor exquisite. Nipping and all sorts.

So i caught the naoko and put it in an acclimation box inside the qt.
Today they seem pretty chill, they are swimming close to each other (on separate sides of the acryllic) without making agressive moves.
Will keep them separate for now and hope for the best

Well, my absolute dream leopard is in arms reach! Just had a message today about one becoming available :)

I was starting to doubt that I’d be able to have this species as they’re just so iffy to come across.

Bonus as its cool if sad because these should not be sold as they are too difficult to keep: @ISpeakForTheSeas you may find these interesting.

It’s a tusk throw down.
