We have to agree to disagree. I'm still firm they are hard to ship, for just the reason you said.

It's all about volume on the other end, they don't have time to coddle a single piece of livestock thus the survivability is crap.
Then they should not touch the fish. Those people should leave it to the places that care and know the animals.
It’s a life and a business that can’t ship or keep them alive should walk from those fish. It doesn’t take much.
If the place isn’t doing best for the animal don’t order or deal with them

People should care about the fish. The fish rely on us. Why support fish killers. That is just stupid and entitlement or just ignorant

Leopards can still carry and parasites go for the gills
Copper is evil for any fish. No worse for wrasse done proper
Never said copper wasn't evil, I don't use it. I just spoke on past experiences for myself. I'm a old school dont qt guy anyway. I dont believe in stressing out the fish anymore than what it has been through coming from the ocean to a undersized glass box.

Is this disect my post morning for you or what?

Just posting info off what was said about qt. That’s all. Never did I say anymore. But when they keep wrasse with tangs in holding over seas yes they can bring parasites with him. Let’s dance definitely. Just saying.

Never dissect your post. Just my 2 cents to everyone. Chill and don’t be soft

It ain't about being soft, a lil respect on discourse goes a LONG way.

So who to buy from then? As much as we think the process of importation should be transparent it isn't and we both know that. Frankly its one of the biggest failings of the ornamental fish industry imho.

Then you shouldn't 'quote' someone in a reply, forum etiquette 101.

Hi guys
Thanks for the discussion. I have been thinking about this and read both sides. That they are no different to the other fish and that the newer copper products are fi e (non ionic ?) or that they are super sensitive and should not get in copper
And indeed i do have some tangs that i would hate to compromise
So i am not sure of what to do. And thanks for the discussion

Boom and your back. Really I don’t have a problem with you you and I see it the same. That’s why I replied to help others. You took it wrong

Holding over seas is where it starts. **** environment and Hemi’s fights are 36 hours and Madagascar fish may be in tiny cubes with multiples in a cube for months. It’s not fish are poor shippers but people kill them. I have videos I have pictures from many places over seas. So after weeks to months of wrasse in small cubes stressed not eating or poorly eating then 36 hour flight supposed to live. It’s not so much the fish as us. If people don’t want the proper care they don’t get the money.
I have talked and worked with the biggest names in qt on how to get numbers of survival up. They try to work with people at holding facilities too. Stress fish allow parasites to take over

This is a lot of why many fish was said to be impossible to keep in captivity witch is a lie. They do with proper care and disease free.

Where to get from. You said you have a wrasse guy that imports. He should be it. Shipping from over seas there will be some losses and we can only control so much. I see fish with no water, ice cold do to they decide that one box doesn’t get heat the had airlines throwing boxes around because they don’t care.
We can only do so much
Also who you are dictates the quality of fish and who you know. That’s sad.

I can give you a wrasse guy but you probably know him already

Those fish look healthy. I would observe in a separate tank for 8-12 weeks. Hit them with prazi 2-3 times. Then into display if they look good. QT if anything shows up during that time. No other fish enters observation while they are there.

What to do is your choice if you want to treat or not.
Buying wrasse from certain places can make it better chance for clean wrasse.
If the wrasse sleeps in sand vs rock. Sand sleeping wrasse less of chance with ich and velvet.
I would concentrate treating for flukes as it’s more common for wrasse.
if you want to treat with copper I recommend copper power. Let fish settle and start eating good and watch and learn their behavior. Then when you start copper first dose I shoot for
1.7ish. Watch how fish acts for a day then dose to 2.2 watch a day or so then will go as high as 2.5.
Most of my wrasse I keep in copper for 14 days then done. Some get 30 days but mostly don’t see the need.

If I understand you properly, tangs should be banned. I will gladly grab my pitchfork for that fight.

I've never had a tang. The few I like the appearance of are either too aggressive, too sensitive, and in most cases both.
Aggressive. That’s why you need a lot of wrasse. They will be busy chasing them and won’t be aggressive lol.
The aggressive ones so far I had great luck with but will swap them out before they got big. I know my luck will run out.

If you want a tang I recommend a tomini or alike
