Hey guys,

So as I prepare to set up my dosing pump, I’m looking at DIYing a couple dosing containers but kinda confused. I read the Core DIY article and I guess I just don’t understand, what is the point of the John Guest fitting and then drilling a hole for air. I get without the air hole it can create uneven dosing due to pressure but why even have the John Guest fitting? Why not just stick the dosing tube in the bottle, no fitting and call it a day?

I read something about the dosing pump losing prime but does the John guest fitting actually stop the dosing liquid from leaking out when it gets disconnected?

Thanks for any responses!

You can absolutely just poke the tube in without a fitting. It is nice to have the double ended John guest so that you can use a rigid piece of acrylic tube inside the container to make sure you’re at the very bottom as a loose tube in the top can be bumped and might not actually stay at the bottom
