Lots of reading and research and in the end I am going with a Reefer MAX S-550 G2+ System yes, I know all the leak issues, but the new tanks are thicker and euro-braced. The big question is when to buy. I asked BRS if they see any sales in the near future. They tell me they don't know, but maybe someone here has a crystal ball. My 2nd choice is the MARINE X 110.4, or maybe the 150.4 but it is most likely filled with a bunch of Redsea parts in the sump; they tend to go on sale in early November. So my question is, without getting into a tank fight, get a Waterbox if the sale is good, or roll the dice and see what Redsea has for black Friday?

Black Friday, a few weeks is worth a few hundred…
And the Red Sea thing: exploding tanks in a living room is hard to overdramatize but what’s the real fail rate?

Is there some amplification from the sheer impact of the event, or are the actual number of failures warranting the fear?

How many people actually die from shark bites, so to speak

To me it's not worth having to think about Red Sea's leaking issues. Have they fixed them ? Possibly. When I bought my system earlier this year, the choice due to price and availability , was between Red Sea and Innovative Marine. Even though it cost me about $400 more for the IM system I am so happy I don't have a Red sea tank sitting in my living room

Great! But my question is on the timing of sales to order, any thoughts on that?

Where I live the choices are very limited but you see posts on R2R quite often mentioning black friday sales in the US . Probably a good time to buy

For the price, you can probably get a custom tank

Honestly i think IM tanks are better than both and usually cheaper
I looked at IM. The sumps will not take a filter roller and take up almost all the space in the stand. They were in the running but just didn't hit the mark. The waterbox looks good, and the new braced Redsea also sounds good. I know about the issues with leaks and do not want to turn this into a bash Red Sea thread. We have a huge number of them already. All I am looking for is thoughts on when to purchase and the expected discounts. The Waterbox is only 1/2 glass and not braced, but if the price is right, I will go with them.
