I'm a sucker for these corals and it seems like no one has made one of these yet. I think they're so incredibly under appreciated for the amount of color they provide to the reef and how easy they tend to be to grow!
Make sure to post your pics and names of your pieces in this thread too!

There are actually no favias in the hobby. All favias are in the atlantic. The 'favias' in the hobby are all dipsastraea, favites, or goniastrea.
I'm looking at pictures taken by Fenner of Favia from Red Sea, Philippines, Bali, & Sulawesi. Or has the taxonomy changed recently?

Yes, there have been a lot of reclassifications over the last 10-15 years.

Taxonomy changed. There are only 2 valid species of favia, both in the Atlantic. Most ‘favias’ have been moved to dipsastraea.

Correct but for hobby terms 99% of people still consider them "favia" or favia type corals. Unfortunately if I made a thread with dipsastraea in the title no one would have any idea what I was talking about lol
Does this have a name? I have a similar one
So depending on the red/marooness of the coral there is a difference

I guess you could say for favia in your title “favia” (dipsastraea) or something like that.

Wish it was easier to know which play nice with each other and which don’t. Mine grow quick and encrust so by the time you find out it’s not compatible it’s a PITA to move or stop from spreading.

Generally my go to is if their shape is similar they'll do fine and its worked out for me
