Truth...

I started out really early helping my dad build dragsters and working on the family car. LOL! How's that for a Throwback Thursday pic? :)

That’s what I do!
R2R is as close to a video game as I get
What’s a video game????? Lol

It goes like this,
Work, Reef Tanks, and Old Volvos. Sometimes the occasional not a Volvo.

Here is one for ya. Got done with the old red truck for Paxtins first vehicle.

5.4 swap, trick flow twisted wedge heads (found on a wrecked truck at the junk yard lol), 224/226 cams (same wrecked truck), headers and a chipped ecu with my own tune on it. Just a road tune, but runs right and no issues lol. Also put a leveling kit on it and 265/75 tires. Will spin the tires for days, if you want.

Not bad for a truck that was handed down to us as a farm truck from my wife’s grandfather.

And yes it is a long bed. Real trucks have an 8’ bed lol.

I guess I don’t have a real truck :(. At least she’s a 6.5ft bed and not one of those 5ft now a days. I need to get me a new truck. I’m planning on working everyday starting January to save for a truck. Was thinking like a 2015 f150 5.0 or something but they don’t have a manual. I want a manual truck... I’m willing to even pay someone to help me with a manual swap. I can do the work I just don’t know the logistics behind it.

She’s the one on the right. I’ve done a lot of wrenching on these trucks here. That middle one is a 94 f250 with the 351w. Had to weld the frame back a few months ago lol

I’m on a 3” lift with 35x10.5r 18

I wish I could make more power with my truck. It’s dangerously slow. Got the torque. Just no power. And I don’t want to dump too much into this truck. It has a lot of quirks that I don’t want to deal with working out lol

As for doing a 5 speed swap on a new Ford, not gonna happen. Well it can, but very expensive. Like whole other truck cost expensive. Due to fords newest can bus setup, all modules are linked, coded to each other and some serious programming would have to be done to the truck. Not saying it cannot be done, but would be an arm, a leg, a first born, their first born lol.

Also, the new automatics are actually pretty darn tough. My wife’s grandfather has a 2017 now and we pulled a large trailer with 2 Volvo wagons filled with parts on it up Monteagle (massive grade on I-24) with no issues and the trans temp never went above normal. It was me driving, so I kept my speed lol. 65 all the way up the mountain and not a single hiccup. Only issue was fuel mileage with that load. His is a 5.0 truck also.

Good morning!!!!
Heather is going back to surgery. They woudnt let me back so I'm off to petsmart for a new heater. Its been 3 1/2 years since this one was new. Not too shabby. It fails off so that's a good thing.

Those are trucks. The only thing not a truck is when its lowered to almost scraping the ground. At that point its a glorified car.

@brett_schn

Ohh, and I built him a custom sub box. Managed to get 2x 12” subs behind the seat of a regular cab. Took a lb of poly fill per sub to simulate a large enough airspace for the subs to perform the best. There is even a recess for the amp and it allows the center console to still be moved up and down. Been 20 or so years since I built a speaker box lol.

Come on, we don't buy trucks because they are good on fuel

Nope. But a F-150 5.0 with about 20k lbs behind it is seriously horrible lol. I was running 80 on flat ground too lol. Probably not the safest thing, but those dang trucks have massive brakes now. It stopped just fine.

Honesty I'd be more worried about the frame rather than the gas ;Hilarious ;Hilarious ;Hilarious I pulled 18K with my 3.5 Eco and it's probably what did my Turbo in the first time. Second time It went, well I'm not sure what did it

Those things were horrible about killing turbos. I had a co-worker who didn’t haul crap and only had a truck for where he lived way off the road and it ate 2 sets of them. One set killed the engine. Was all under warranty luckily, but still.

Yeah the automatics are bad to the bone on these trucks. My dad has a 14 f150 platinum. 6 speed auto. 3.5 eco boost twin turbo. That trucks wicked. I’ve seen a full bolt on 3.5 do 10sec passes at the palm beach drag strip. I’m trying to find an older f150 or 250 manual or something because I’ve really looked in depth about manual swapping a new one and u nerd a genius with programming lol.

Neither of mine were under warranty, first one went after 125,000k, second one went 17,000k later and that was the end of that truck.

I’ve pulled 14k lb on my f150. She loved it. Squated down a ton but she yanked that thing around. My trucks only rated to tow like 6,000lbs or something
