If you're anything like me, a clean up crew was an afterthought until the nuisance algae came along. There are lots of different negative scenarios that can arise with reef keeping, and lots of these negative scenarios are remedied with a hardy clean up crew.

Have you ever been on the brink of a reefing disaster, but your CUC saved the day? I want to hear your experiences.

Tuxedo Urchins and Turbo Snails for algae control, hermits to deal with detritis and food gone uneaten by fish and diamond goby to turn over the sand bed .... great team !

diamond goby should do the job... mine cleaned up my 200g in about a week. Was battling sand (turf) algae for almost 9 months before i got a good goby to do the job

Nothing. They’re over rated, expensive, have short lives and need to be constantly replaced, and ultimately don’t eliminate manual removal, glass cleaning, treatment, etc. But some crabs are fun to watch at least! Nothing beats a few good tangs and other omnivores.
