Oh awesome! Always interested in Avast Marine products. I would totally put this to good use on my Reefer 300xl. I have a very busy work schedule and know my fish would benefit from more frequent small meals vs just evening. Sometimes I don't even make it home before lights out and then I feel terrible :crying-face: I had purchased the Plank feeder for my last tank but could not make it work with the T5 canopy in the way. Now that I have a smaller tank and light setup, there is plenty of space! And a custom lid with perfectly placed cutouts to accommodate the Plank feeder as well as a good regulator sounds like my dreams!

360 gallon. The pic is at old house. I moved and am going back to salt! Lids would help for the fowlr setup I plan.

Good or bad, the only happy accident I have is when I handed my credit card over at the LFS and started this 30 year journey of reefing. I never want to actually know how much was spent through about 12 different salt water tanks....

TANK TALK: Tell us about your reef setup's evolution. What gear did you start out with? What does it look like now? What led to the changes?
My very first saltwater tank, I hadn't had fish since I was a teenager, and I wasn't sure how I would feel taking care of fish so I went really cheap. I got a basic circulation pump off Amazon (I believe Aquaneat), and a basic light to see fish (I wasn't going to do coral). So pretty much everything as cheaply as possible off Amazon. As I got into, and discovered I liked it, I started to purchase better quality equipment that was used. As I still enjoy it, I have started swapping out the used stuff for new stuff.

I think as my education improved, I better understood what I needed and how to get it. Want corals - well the cheapo Amazon light, won't actually provide enough (or any) par because it isn't designed for that.

I’m currently culturing phytoplankton but also feed dried platonic foods to my reef. Would love something like this to make my life a little easier.

TANK TALK: If there was one thing/product you wish existed in the hobby but doesn't right now, what would it be and why?
A small remote controlled camera so you can check inbetween or under rockwork. You could look for missing livestock and check for pests without tearing down the tank. Also it would be fun to get a "fish-eye view" of the world we have created for our fish.

TANK TALK: Coral placement... How do you decide where to put a new coral in your reef? Is it based strictly on the coral's needs, is it about how it looks, a bit of both (how do you balance that)?

I mapped the par in my tank. So corals needs then where i think it would look best!

Official entry: building a 125g and would love to have a secure way to keep my jumpers from trying to go floor surfing.

As I don't have a par meter, I place the corals where I would like them to be and monitor them for growth. If they look like they are flourishing where they are at then I mount them.

Official entry: I would love to have a lid for my shallow 30 gallon as it is very prone to jumpers. An auto feeder, especially one this high quality, would make my life and traveling a lot easier.

I mainly take thw corals needs into account then come up with a few potential locations for it. After that, I decide which of the options the coral will look best in.
