For me, it's a bit of both an available real estate. I try to take into account growth, future flow issues, looks, and the needs of th coral. However, with that being said, the majority of my corals are placed for future growth and potential coral warfare.TANK TALK: Coral placement... How do you decide where to put a new coral in your reef? Is it based strictly on the coral's needs, is it about how it looks, a bit of both (how do you balance that)?
I jut kinda find a spot they won’t fall and hope for the best lol.TANK TALK: Coral placement... How do you decide where to put a new coral in your reef? Is it based strictly on the coral's needs, is it about how it looks, a bit of both (how do you balance that)?
I mostly collect acros so placement is high and good strong flow! The other factor that plays into the role is colors! I like to place bright greens with purples and oranges with blues etc.. can’t have a whole rock covered in a single color.TANK TALK: Coral placement... More of a reinforcement to be persistent. There is loss, there is set backs, learn and get better from them. Also share those learnings with others!TANK TALK: Share a lesson you've learned from your reef tank that applies to life outside the aquarium. It could be patience, resilience, or the importance of balance. Comment with your reef-inspired life lesson for entry into the giveaway
I just recently tested Par..... first time in 2 years. Most are where they are because of needs for light. Flow is what it is. Nothing soft in front of power heads.TANK TALK: Coral placement... I dont, i have a issue mounting the corals. I tend to have them on racks or moveing around. I try to make it work both on need and the tanks flow.TANK TALK: Coral placement... This is a very difficult question for a newb. I can only speak for myself. Initially, I am drawn to what catches me eye. I don't just like the bright and flashy corals. I have some muted softies that I love too. Unfortunately, I have also picked up some coral which I didn't fully understand their growth or aggression. A good example is I just picked up a Hollywood Stunner Chalice. I had no idea they had long sweepers. I got to see it first hand last night actually. Not a horrible thing but something I wish the lfs would have educated me on. Something I find lacking at the few coral shops I've actually gone to. It was indeed an impulse buy but in my head, I assumed it was a slow growing encrusting type.TANK TALK: Coral placement... How do you decide where to put a new coral in your reef? So right now, I'm having to research here and YT for coral placement and strategy for future growth. Again...difficult to ask the right questions for something don't know about.
I’ve loved talbot damsels since we first started this. Purple is my favorite color and I love the look they have. Them or mandarins. I’d also like to get some starfish…haven’t had luck keeping them.TANK TALK: What is your dream fish or invertebrate?
I would for sure say the corals needs. If we find an area that meets those needs then we’ll go for best look in that area. Don’t need any unnecessary loss lol.TANK TALK: Coral placement...
