True-percula's are caught out in the wild and false-percula's are tank breed. The way you can tell them apart is that the false-percula's have not as much black around thier three white bars and the true's have alot more. Seeing your picture, i concur that your clown is definitly a TRUE-percula.

I know there is another way to tell a differnce which is not too obvious as the true's having more black. The false ones, most of the time, have more spines on their dorsal fin, 11 in fact to the true's 10 spines.

Plus you also see some tank bred percula's come out of the wholesaler looking somewhat missbared.... :D

percula is the species

there is also ocellaris, which are the "false perculas"

being tank bred has nothing to do with it, mine are perculas and they were tank bred
