And here's another one, a BUILD THREAD. All of my 4 tanks are AIO's. I prefer thier simple design. Maybe someday I'll graduate onto a sumped system, but for now, long live the AIO!

For this build, I'm reusing a 29g aqueon tank with a fiji cube AIO insert. This was previously my main reef, but I moved everything into a bigger 75g AIO.

I plan on housing my snowflake eel in here until she's too big then upgrading. Timeline for that is uncertain since I do not know how fast she'll outgrow this tank.

So....
Equipment:
29g aqueon tank with AIO insert.
Cheap return pump (will upgrade later)
Heater
Lighting- pair of smatfarm lights. These were just taken down from my main reef, I upgraded to noopsyche for more blue, but these will be sufficient for what I'm trying to grow in this tank.
Glass lids to keep the eel wet. No one wants dry eel jerky.
Bahimi pink sand. My favorite sand, more chunks then Fiji pink.
TBS live rock- coming soon.
Coral will be fast growing, almost weedy type soft corals. Planning on a colony of zoas from my main tank that are super pretty and fast growers, Kenya tree, gsp and likely pulsing xenia too. Basically coral I like but gets outta hand in other tanks where I want other coral to shine.

Sand shoud be delivered today, and I'll get the pipe cut and placed. Get sand on top and start filling.

The eel is currently in a temp tank on the counter, with established rock (and media) from my dt. I plan on transferring to the tank once it's clear from the sand.

The eel is eating well, I feed every 2 days and she's definitely picked up on my schedule. She'll start to poke her head out and beg on day 2. So far eating clam and krill. She was on live guppies at the store so I'm very pleased she's eating what I'm offering.

Also need to prep for rock, that will be coming on Monday. Getting 20lbs to start. My first ever real live rock. Plan is to observe it in a tank on my counter first, make sure it's cured with any possible die off. Kinda wondering how the warmer waters in Florida will affect the quality of the live rock? We'll see.

She's adorable. So tiny. In the picture above I used a kitchen meat thermometer for scale. Probably about 7" long and as wide as my pinky finger. The krill I'm feeding is huge for her little mouth. I've been cutting it so she can gulp it down better.

I'm assuming "she"?

Sand arrived. Added one bag and thinking I should wait for rocks before I add more sand.

Probably could have done more pipe, but since I plan to upgrade I'll make a better pipe cave system then.

Going to start filling...

So had nightmares about bad hitchhikers like parasitic isopods all night. Seeing many posts from new TBS rock that are covered in the bad type. Definitely will be going over the new rocks for a while before I add them to the tank.

Got the tank filled and running, and when it's clear I'm going to add some more rocks from the dt to hold that pipe down and get the eel situated. Depending on how many nasties are in the rocks will tell me how long this process will take. Pick up is on Monday for the 20lbs.

Getting nervous.
