Working on a stand for a 60cm (24") cube. Trying to figure out how to squeeze more stuff into a smaller space, as my original stand idea does not fit well in my house (wanted to do a 36" sump.

Is it a bad idea to put a roller filter in the same chamber as a skimmer. A quick dry fit shows they could sit side by side in a 20 gallon tall aquarium. If I put them one behind the other, I would still have room in that 20 gallon tall sump for a small (12"x10") refugium and a small pump chamber. It would also leave 1/2 of the stands floor space for other stuff to accumulate (electronics and reservoirs).

The other option I see is to expand the stand by 3", and eat up most of the floor space with a separate refugium. The bonus would be a much larger volume in the refugium, but the downside is more plumbing, and needing to reach over the refugium to access the sump, and a LOT less floor space for storing other things (they would need to go on a shelf, maybe)

I have an Elos 70 and the sump is small and the return, skimmer and overflow all sit in the same body of water lol, I just plumbed my overflow directly to the roller, I’m lucky my skimmer doesn’t appear to have micro bubble problems because I’d have no defence for it.

Going to be a nightmare for me to maintain, already has been when I’ve dropped something in the sump or trying to get to my probes to calibrate, seems to work quite well so far.
