Help please!!! This stringy thing is attached to my clown’s underside, directly under where the middle white line is located on his body. I have a bunch of pictures for y’all. Obviously the string is moving around in the water but it keeps getting longer! It’s got a thick piece at the bottom and gets skinnier as its closer to her/his body. The stringy thing is a yellow/white color and higher up the string has a black/green color. He’s been acting normal, eating, swimming, trying to steal food from the hermits, like he’s normal. Idk if this is normal poop or what but I’m so scared please help!!

i have had this fish for 8 months in my tank with no new coral, fish, or CUC. I haven’t added anything into the tank so it’s not a QT issue. I haven’t done anything to the tank that I feel would’ve caused this. Last night I fed my fish some hikari frozen food, same food I’ve been feeding to her/him for like 5-6 months. I put some nori in the tank for my hermits but I’ve used the same kind of nori before and my clown was eating a little bit of it today & last night.

In short - no changes, no additions, there’s been literally nothing new with this tank I haven’t done anything to it besides a water change the other day and I got the water from a LFS, which I’ve gotten water from before.

UPDATE: my fish flicked his whole body and most of the string came off! There’s still a small piece stuck to her/him though, but it’s mostly black & white

CHASNGE FOOD? OR AMOUNT? new additions? otherwise healthy?
No change in type of food, but maybe in the amount. I feed a half cube of Hikari frozen food roughly every 4-5 days but I only have the one fish (Idk if it’s male or female but I would like to know lol) so I figured that should be enough. But sometimes I’ll feed a little more or less than half. Other than that, no new additions and I think my fish is pretty healthy, at least I hope so but doesn’t seem to have issues.

today i noticed a fish from my LFS had pooped but it was all brown and not so stringy looking so I’m kind of worried :(

Looks like stingy poop to me!

Occasionally my clowns get this. usually depending on what I have fed them. You could try to change it up a little bit if you are feeding the same exact food every time. Give the fish a little bit more of a variety. If it continued after that, I might get a little more concerned. Based off the history you stated, I think it probably just a little mucus in the stool, which can be normal.

PS Im not an expert.
